Does anyone know anything about ripping dvd files?

I'm trying to rip a dvd, using Alcohol 120% and DVD Decryptor, and neither works...It freezes up with read errors around 50%, every time. I've been looking for answers for hours and I just updated my firmware and THAT didn't work either.

I am totally at my wit's end here. Any suggestions?
